A Detailed Itinerary:

Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park

On arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be welcomed by our senior guide-driver from Arcadia Safaris, briefed about your 16 Day Best of Uganda and Tanzania Classic Safari, and transferred for chimpanzee trekking in Kibale forest. You will pass through the countryside, enjoy the great sceneries, traditional homes, and see some of the various striking bird species. Have lunch in Fort Portal town, the tourism capital of Uganda because of the beautiful landscapes and attractions. Day 2: Chimpanzee Tracking and Bigodi Swamp Nature Walk

After early breakfast, you will go to the park headquarters where you will be briefed about chimpanzee tracking. By 8:00am, you will be starting your search for the chimpanzees within the park. These primates are the closest relatives to the human being and they share 98% of their DNA with that of the human beings. There are also many other primate species which will be seen along with the chimpanzees and these include; the L’Hoest monkeys, golden monkeys, Black and white colobus monkeys, grey checked Mangabey, red tailed monkeys, the bush babies. The chimps are located by simply listening for their pant hooting calls, and then head to the place from which they replied from. Here, you will be able to see them feeding, playing, and socializing with one another. Later in the afternoon, you will visit Bigodi swamp, which is equally good for viewing primates and birds. It’s mainly maintained by the local people, and they earn a living from there. You will enjoy many bird species here including; the great blue turaco, and many more, the other primate species to view here include; the baboons, mongoose, otters, brush pigs as well as the bush bucks.

Day 3: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

On Day 3 after early morning breakfast, you will be transferred to the famous and iconic Queen Elizabeth National Park. This is one of the best places in Africa where you will view tree climbing lions. You will also view many animals including; the monkeys, birds, Uganda Kobs, antelopes and more. Day 4: Morning Game Drive and Kazinga Channel Boat Cruise

After early breakfast, head out for a morning game drive across the Kasenyi plains in search of lions, elephants, buffaloes, and other wildlife. Return for lunch at the lodge. In the afternoon, enjoy a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, one of the densest concentrations of hippos and Nile crocodiles in Africa, with excellent birdlife and elephants coming down to the water’s edge. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park via Ishasha Sector

After early morning breakfast, you will be transferred to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. The drive offers scenic views of the countryside and rural life. You will pass via the southern park of Queen Elizabeth National Park “Ishasha Sector” for famous Tree-Climbing Lions and thereafter continue with your transfer Journey to Bwindi. Evening arrival at the park and then take a nature walk if time permits where you will see many animals including the monkeys, birds and forest life. Check-in to your accommodation, refresh, dinner, and overnight stay in preparation for the eventful morning of Gorilla Trekking.

Day 6: Gorilla Trekking – Batwa Cultural Trail and Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

After early morning breakfast, head out for park headquarters for a briefing on dos and don’ts of gorilla trekking in Bwindi. The rangers will guide you to the rainforest to start your search of the gentle giants. It is sometimes tough and thus needs someone so strong. Trekkers are advised to carry their rain coat and boots because the weather there is always unpredictable.

There are also some porters who always help with the carrying of the luggage on behalf of the visitors but at a small cost. On sighting the gorillas, the rangers will guide you on how to handle them especially by giving them a 6 meter distance as you enjoy them play around. It’s always not easy to predict how long gorilla trekking will take, and this also depends on the location of some families since some of them are far from the park headquarters. However, it always takes 2 to 8 hours to come into contact with them, and the rangers will always be there to guide you. Batwa Cultural Experience

After your trek, return to the lodge for your lunch and in the afternoon, you may opt to visit the Batwa community to enjoy some cultural performances before retiring at your lodge. Thereafter, you will drive off to Lake Bunyonyi. The lake is framed by lush, green-terraced hills that reach a height of 2,478m, but it’s the 29 islands of various shapes and sizes scattered across the water that make it most magical-you could admire them all day. Day 7: Lake Bunyonyi Exploration with Canoe Riding

You can choose to do Community Walk, Canoe Ride, Boat Ride, Bicycle Ride, Bird Watching, Cray Fishing or any other activity in Lake Bunyonyi after breakfast as per your choice by paying additionally at the accommodation. After the activities, enjoy a relaxed afternoon at the lodge with beautiful views of the islands and hills. Day 8: Transfer to Entebbe and Fly to Tanzania

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Entebbe International Airport for your flight to Kilimanjaro International Airport or Arusha. On arrival in Tanzania you will be met by our representative from Arcadia Safaris and after welcoming you, a briefing shall be conducted in regards to your next days of adventure in Tanzania and then after you will be transferred to your accommodation for dinner and overnight.

Day 9: Transfer to Tarangire National Park

After breakfast, you will depart Arusha and drive to Tarangire National Park. The park is famous for its large elephant herds, ancient baobab trees, and diverse wildlife. Arrive in time for lunch at the lodge. In the afternoon, enjoy a game drive across the park in search of elephants, lions, leopards, buffaloes, giraffes, and many bird species. Day 10: Morning Game Drive in Tarangire and Transfer to Serengeti National Park

After early breakfast, enjoy a morning game drive in Tarangire National Park focusing on the elephant herds and the scenic baobab landscape. Later, you will depart for the famous Serengeti National Park. Arrive at your lodge in time for lunch. In the afternoon you will enjoy a game drive across the endless plains in search of the Big Five and other wildlife. Dinner and overnight at your accommodation.

Day 11 and 12: Two Full Days of Game Drives in Serengeti National Park

These two full days are to be spent exploring the magical Serengeti National Park. Driving across the plain in search of the big cats – black manned lions, cheetahs, and leopards with picnic lunch served in the bush. Vast herds of wildebeest and zebra wander across the grasslands in huge numbers during the period of the annual migrations. You also have a chance to see other plain game like the topi, hartebeest, eland, elephants, buffaloes and many more. Dinner and overnight at your lodge each evening.

Day 13: Transfer to Ngorongoro and Crater Game Drive

After breakfast, you will start early in the morning to drive to Ngorongoro Conservation Area. From the caldera of the dormant volcano, you’ll go down the crater to enjoy the beauty of its unique flora and fauna where you will see a lot of animals. Day 14: Ngorongoro Highlands Exploration

Start off your day with a filling breakfast, proceeding to take an early morning walking safari or further exploration in the beautiful Ngorongoro Highlands – a 3-4-hour adventure.
