Take a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel and enjoy great sights of wildlife, from the majestic elephants and hippos to several bird species. Day 3: Gorilla Trekking and Batwa Community Visit.
Have an early breakfast and head to park headquarters for a briefing on dos and don’ts while with the gorillas. Here, you meet fellow trackers as you get grouped before taking off into the dense forest in search of these gentle giants. In this trek, you will go uphill and downhill through thick trees; be on the lookout for one number of bird species.
On arrival among the gorillas, you get one golden hour to watch them as they enact their daily activities: eating, playing, or even mating. It is one of those really magical experiences that get you up close with these endangered creatures.
After your trek, you will then return to the starting point for an awarding ceremony as a sign of successful completion of the gorilla trekking adventure. You will then head back to the lodge for a well-deserved lunch and some time to rest.
This evening, you will be visiting the Batwa community, the original inhabitants of this forest. Being forcibly removed from their homes to protect the ecosystem and its other inhabitants, the mountain gorillas, that were being threatened, the Batwa provide a very rare look into their former, centuries-old lifestyle and how hard it has been for them to adjust to living outside the forest.

After a successful game drive, you head back to the lodge for lunch.
Afternoon: Drive to Mweya Peninsula to begin a 2-hour boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel that connects Lake Edward and Lake George. It is a haven for a wild array of wildlife; hence, large schools of hippos, herds of elephants cooling off, and varieties of bird species are a common sight. After the boat ride, drive back to the lodge en route and have some relaxing game drives, followed by dinner to round up an eventful day.
