A Detailed Itinerary:

Day 1: Transfer from Entebbe to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Your adventure begins with pickup from Entebbe International Airport or your hotel in Kampala by your professional guide-driver from Arcadia Safaris. After a short briefing, travel southwest through Uganda’s changing landscapes, passing rural settlements, green countryside, and picturesque hills on the way to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. After lunch, proceed toward Bwindi, enjoying the scenic countryside as you approach the forested highlands of southwestern Uganda. On arrival, check in at your lodge, enjoy dinner, and relax ahead of your mountain gorilla trekking experience the following day. This is a long road journey, so an early start is recommended. Travelers arriving at Entebbe late in the day may need to arrange an overnight stay near the airport before beginning the safari.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking, Batwa Cultural Trail and Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

After an early breakfast, head to the designated park headquarters for a briefing by Uganda Wildlife Authority staff before beginning your mountain gorilla trekking experience in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Accompanied by trained trackers and park guides, venture into the forest in search of a habituated gorilla family. The trek can take several hours depending on the gorillas’ location and the terrain. Once the gorillas are located, visitors are generally allowed up to one hour with them, subject to park regulations. After the trek, return to the starting point and enjoy lunch before experiencing the Batwa Cultural Trail, where community guides introduce you to Batwa traditions, forest knowledge, music, storytelling, and cultural heritage.

Later, transfer to the beautiful Lake Bunyonyi, a scenic highland lake renowned for its terraced hills, tranquil waters, and numerous islands. On arrival, check in at your lodge and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. Depending on your arrival time and the activities selected, you may arrange an optional canoe excursion or community visit to learn more about life around the lake. Relax at the lodge in the evening and enjoy the views before your return journey the following day.

Day 3: Transfer back to Entebbe International Airport and Departure

Enjoy breakfast at your lodge overlooking the beautiful surroundings of Lake Bunyonyi. Depending on your departure schedule, you may have a little time to appreciate the lake’s scenery before checking out and beginning the return journey through southwestern Uganda. Travel through the countryside toward Entebbe or Kampala, with a stop at the Equator for photographs or refreshments if time and the agreed route allow.

Continue toward your designated drop-off point, reflecting on your mountain gorilla encounter and Batwa cultural experience. Your safari ends with drop-off at Entebbe International Airport for your onward flight or at your hotel in Kampala, as arranged. The drive from Lake Bunyonyi to Entebbe is long and traffic conditions can affect arrival time, so we strongly recommend booking a late-evening international flight or arranging an additional overnight stay if your flight departs earlier in the day.
