A Detailed Itinerary:

Day 1: Airport Pickup and Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Your safari begins with a welcome from your senior professional guide-driver from Arcadia Safaris at Entebbe International Airport or your hotel in Kampala. After a short briefing, begin the journey southwest through Uganda’s beautiful countryside, passing rural settlements, rolling hills, and changing landscapes. Depending on your route and schedule, you may stop at the Equator for photographs and refreshments before continuing toward southwestern Uganda.

Proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, a UNESCO-recognized natural treasure renowned for its mountain gorillas, rich biodiversity, and ancient rainforest. Upon arrival, check in at your lodge, enjoy dinner, and relax ahead of the following day’s Gorilla Habituation Experience. This is a long road journey, so an early departure is recommended. If your international flight arrives late in the day, an overnight stay near Entebbe or Kampala may be necessary before travelling to Bwindi.

Day 2: Gorilla Habituation Experience and Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

Rise early for the highlight of your Uganda safari: the Gorilla Habituation Experience in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. After breakfast, transfer to the designated park headquarters for a briefing by Uganda Wildlife Authority staff before entering the forest with authorized trackers and guides. The experience provides an opportunity to spend up to four hours with a gorilla group undergoing habituation, once the group is located, subject to the applicable conservation rules and permit conditions. Observe the gorillas’ natural behavior while learning about the work involved in helping them become accustomed to human presence. After the experience, return from the forest and proceed toward Lake Bunyonyi, one of Uganda’s most scenic highland lakes. Day 3: Lake Bunyonyi Exploration and Transfer to Entebbe

Enjoy breakfast at your lodge overlooking the beautiful scenery of Lake Bunyonyi. If time allows, you may arrange a short canoe ride or boat excursion to appreciate the lake’s islands and surrounding hills before checking out. Any optional activity should be scheduled in consultation with your guide and lodge, as the return journey to Entebbe is lengthy and your departure arrangements need to be considered carefully.

After breakfast and any agreed morning activity, begin the drive back through southwestern Uganda toward Entebbe or Kampala. Enjoy the changing countryside along the way, with a stop for lunch en route. Your guide will drop you off at Entebbe International Airport for your onward flight or at an agreed hotel in Kampala. Because the journey can take much of the day and traffic may cause delays, we recommend booking a late-evening international flight or arranging an additional overnight stay if your flight departs earlier.
