Day 3: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park
Rise early for breakfast before transferring to the Volcanoes National Park headquarters in Kinigi for a briefing by the park rangers. You will receive instructions on mountain gorilla trekking guidelines and conservation measures before being assigned to a habituated gorilla family. Accompanied by experienced park guides and trackers, you will enter the forest in search of these endangered great apes. The trek may take a few hours or much of the day, depending on the location and movement of the gorillas, the terrain and prevailing weather conditions. A reasonable level of physical fitness is recommended because some sections of the forest trails can be steep and muddy.
Once the gorilla family is located, you will spend up to one hour observing these magnificent animals in their natural habitat. Watch them feed, groom, rest and interact within their family groups, while your ranger shares fascinating information about their behaviour and conservation. Young gorillas often provide particularly memorable moments as they play and interact with other members of the group. After this extraordinary Rwanda gorilla trekking experience, return to the park headquarters and receive your trekking certificate before driving back to your lodge for lunch. Spend the remainder of the afternoon relaxing and enjoying the beautiful surroundings of Volcanoes National Park.

After an early breakfast, transfer to the Volcanoes National Park headquarters for a briefing before beginning your golden monkey trekking adventure. Golden monkeys are endemic to the Albertine Rift region and are found in the bamboo forests of the Virunga Mountains. Accompanied by experienced park guides and trackers, you will explore the forest in search of these lively and fascinating primates. The trek usually takes a few hours, depending on the location and movement of the golden monkey group. Once you find them, enjoy observing their playful behaviour as they leap between bamboo stems, feed and interact within their groups. This experience offers a wonderful contrast to the mountain gorilla encounter of the previous day. Best 4 Day Rwanda Gorilla Trekking Safari
After the golden monkey trek, return to the park headquarters and proceed back to your lodge for a short rest and lunch, depending on the timing of your activity.
