Day 1: Fly from Entebbe to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park

Your Uganda fly-in gorilla safari begins with a domestic flight from Entebbe International Airport to Kihihi Airstrip. Enjoy aerial views of Uganda’s changing landscapes as you travel towards the southwestern region. Upon arrival, your professional Arcadia Safaris driver-guide will welcome you and transfer you to your lodge near Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. The road transfer time depends on the lodge’s location and the gorilla trekking sector, so your accommodation and transport arrangements will be coordinated with your flight schedule.

After checking in and settling into your lodge, enjoy some time to relax and take in the beautiful forest surroundings. Depending on your arrival time, you may choose an optional guided forest nature walk or a community visit near Bwindi. These activities provide an opportunity to discover the area’s biodiversity, learn about local traditions, and meet community members. Day 2: Mountain Gorilla Trekking and Batwa Cultural Experience in Bwindi Forest

After an early breakfast, head to the park briefing point for your mountain gorilla trekking adventure. Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) rangers will explain the trekking guidelines and conservation rules before you enter the forest. Accompanied by experienced guides, follow forest trails in search of a habituated gorilla family. The trek may take several hours, depending on the gorillas’ location and the terrain. Once you find them, you will generally spend up to one hour observing these magnificent primates in their natural habitat, following the rangers’ instructions.

After the trek, enjoy lunch before visiting the local Batwa community near Bwindi, subject to the day’s schedule. Learn about the Batwa people’s traditional forest life, cultural practices, and connection to the surrounding environment. This experience offers valuable insight into their heritage and the importance of community-based tourism. Later, return to your lodge for dinner and relaxation. As gorilla trekking can take longer than expected, the Batwa visit may be adjusted or rescheduled depending on available time.

Day 3: Fly Back to Entebbe International Airport and Departure
