A Detailed Itinerary:

Day 1: Airport Pickup and Transfer to Your Hotel in Kampala

On arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by our senior guide-driver from Arcadia Safaris. After a short briefing about your 25 Day Best of Uganda – Rwanda – Kenya and Tanzania Safari, you will be transferred to your hotel in Kampala. The drive takes approximately one hour depending on traffic. Check in, relax and recover from your international flight. Dinner and overnight at your hotel in Kampala.

Day 2: Transfer to Murchison Falls with a Detour to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

After early breakfast, you will depart Kampala and drive north towards Murchison Falls National Park. En route you will make a stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, the only place in Uganda where you can track white rhinos on foot. After the rhino tracking experience and a short break, continue to Murchison Falls National Park. Arrive in the afternoon, check in at your lodge, and enjoy dinner and overnight in preparation for the next day’s activities.

Day 3: Morning Game Drive and Afternoon Boat Cruise to the Base of Falls

After early breakfast, set out for a morning game drive on the northern bank of the Nile. This area is rich in wildlife and you have excellent chances of seeing lions, elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, Uganda kobs, and many antelope species. Return to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, enjoy a boat cruise on the Nile towards the base of the mighty Murchison Falls. The cruise offers close views of hippos, crocodiles, and a wide variety of water birds. Day 4: Hike Top of the Falls and Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park

After breakfast, you will take a short hike to the Top of the Falls where you can stand just a few meters from the point where the Nile forces its way through a narrow seven-meter gorge. After enjoying the powerful views and taking photographs, you will begin the scenic drive to Kibale Forest National Park. The journey takes you through beautiful countryside and tea plantations. Day 5: Chimpanzee Tracking and Bigodi Community Nature Walk

After early breakfast, you will go to the park headquarters where you will be briefed about chimpanzee tracking. By 8:00 am you will begin your search for the chimpanzees within the forest. These primates are the closest relatives to human beings and share 98% of their DNA with us. Along the way you may also encounter other primates including L’Hoest’s monkeys, black-and-white colobus, red-tailed monkeys and grey-cheeked mangabeys. After the trek, return to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, enjoy a guided nature walk in Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, a community-run project excellent for bird watching and additional primate sightings. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.

Day 9: Gorilla Trekking, Batwa Cultural Experience and Transfer to Bunyonyi

After early morning breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a briefing on the dos and don’ts of gorilla trekking. The rangers will guide you into the dense rainforest in search of a habituated gorilla family. The trek can take anywhere from two to eight hours depending on the location of the gorillas. Once you locate them, you will spend a magical hour observing them at close range. After the trek, return for lunch and then visit the Batwa community for a cultural experience. Later in the afternoon, transfer to the beautiful Lake Bunyonyi. Dinner and overnight at your lodge overlooking the lake.

Day 10: Lake Bunyonyi Exploration and Transfer to Volcanoes Rwanda

Day 11: Golden Monkey Trekking and Cultural Experience

After early breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a briefing before setting out to track the playful golden monkeys in the bamboo forests of Volcanoes National Park. The trek is usually shorter than gorilla trekking and offers excellent photographic opportunities. After the trek, return to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, enjoy a cultural experience with a local community or visit the Dian Fossey Tomb if preferred. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.
