This 3 Day Mabamba Shoebill and Botanical Gardens Safari will you through Botanical Gardens and Mabamba Swamp for the mighty Shoebill and other avian species. The Mabamba bay is identified as an important Birding Area and also renowned for hosting the rare Shoebill Stork as well as famously blessed with a variety of bird species. Mabamba Islands has grown into one of the most interesting and spectacular tourist sites for birding and a part from Murchison Falls National Park, Mabamba is the only place rated as the best in Africa or in the world where the elusive shoebill can be easily spotted in its natural state. Apart from the rare shoebill, there are many other bird species to see on this tour.

Detailed Itinerary:

Day 1: Airport Pickup and Transfer to your Hotel.

On arrival at Entebbe International Airport you will be received by our professional guide from Arcadia Safaris to start your Uganda birding safari and there after transfer to your hotel in Entebbe. Depending on your time of arrival, you have an opportunity to bird Botanical Gardens in case you have a morning flight. Otherwise you check into your hotel and prepare to start your birding tomorrow.

Day 2: Birding Expedition at Mabamba Wetland

Rise and shine, birding enthusiasts! Today is all about exploring the wonders of Mabamba Wetland and encountering its diverse birdlife. After a hearty breakfast, embark on a thrilling boat ride through the labyrinthine channels of the wetland, accompanied by expert guides who will help you spot some of the rarest bird species in the world; Keep your binoculars at the ready as you search for the iconic Shoebill Stork, African Jacana, Malachite Kingfisher, and a myriad of other avian treasures that call Mabamba home. With over 300 bird species recorded here, every moment promises a new and exciting discovery.

In the afternoon, continue your exploration on foot along the scenic trails that wind through Mabamba’s lush vegetation. Keep your eyes peeled for elusive species hidden among the reeds and marshes, and revel in the serenity of this untouched wilderness; As the day draws to a close, return to your accommodation for a well-deserved rest, reminiscing about the day’s unforgettable birding encounters.

Day 3: Botanical Gardens Discovery – 3 Day Mabamba Shoebill and Botanical Gardens Safari.

On your final day; after breakfast, you will set off for the enchanting Botanical Gardens, a haven for both birdlife and botanical wonders. On reaching there you will embark on a leisurely stroll through the gardens, guided by experts who will illuminate the fascinating ecology and history of this botanical paradise. The botanical gardens offers you an excellent introduction to Uganda’s birds which range from Lake Victoria specials including the grey Kestrel, golden–backed weaver, slender –billed and forest birds including the splendid Ross’s and the great blue Turacco ,palm Nut vulture, African Grey parrot and  Whilst bat Hawk.

As your birding safari draws to a close, indulge in a sumptuous farewell lunch, savoring the flavors of Uganda one last time before it’s time to bid adieu to your fellow adventurers and the breathtaking landscapes that have captured your heart. After your Lunch, you will be transfered back to your hotel to refresh and checkout and this shall mark the end of your 3 Day Mabamba Shoebill and Botanical Gardens Safari.
